I am sitting here at my computer very content. (contented?) I have some hot cider, some rice and a bowl of lovely curry soup (that I am just wolfing down, it is so swotting good). I am listning to Lord of the Rings soundtrack and working on my zine. Who cares that I spent two hours wrestling with my inconcievibly horrid printer and it's multitude of driver and ink problems, or the fact that the program I was going to use to design my zine doesn't work on my new computer? Right now i just feel very nice - and it's still before 1 p.m.!

There is something calming, at least to me, that we still exist in a world where, on the first day of the New Year, I can wake up and turn on the TV, - CNN even – and not find bombs and politicians and terrorist attacks on our country or the countries of anyone around the world. No, what I found was a report on community New Year’s celebrations, specifically Port Clinton Ohio that drops a giant paper mache walleye and Key West that drops a Drag Queen named Sushi.
